Introduction to Tibetan Grammar
With David Curtis
September 20 - November 15, 2017
9-week Course by Teleconference Call
Insight into the spiritual language and culture heritage of Tibet
Learning is the treasure that will follow its owner everywhere. −Chinese Proverb
This course is open to anyone who has taken our Level I. This course will replace the Level 2 Course for this fall.
Students will study Tibetan using the excellent A Primer for Classical Literary Tibetan by John Rockwell. This outstanding grammar book is filled with helpful appendices—genuine aids to learning to read Dharma prayers and texts.
In addition to being our text for this course, the Primer for Classical Literary Tibetan is a great reference tool to have. Plus it comes with a second volume, a brilliant synopsis of the Jewel Ornament of Liberation by Gampopa.
There are many exercises with each lesson, from Tibetan to English and English to Tibetan—and all the answers are given in the back of the book.
For students who have had Level II, this will be a great review with various explanations and examples taken from classical Buddhist texts, as well as new information not taught in any of our TLI Levels.
Wednesdays starting September 20
5-6:30 Pacific Time
$150 for course (not including class materials)

Regular phone line works best for teleconference calls. Cell phones also work, but Skype cannot be used because it creates too much static on the line. No Skype or Internet phone calls please.
Students will be sent link to a telephone recording of each class. If you cannot attend the "live" class, you can still register and attend via telephone recording. This has worked well for many students.
David Curtis was given the title of Lama upon completion of the Three-Year Retreat, and then in 2007 he was awarded the title of Acharya (Master Teacher). He has dedicated himself since retreat to teaching the Tibetan language and Buddhism.
