INTENSIVE LANGUAGE COURSES
TWO WEEKEND SEMINARS IN BOSTON
LEVEL I: JUNE 19-21 ● LEVEL 2: JUNE 26-28
with
Lama David Curtis
Deepen your relationship with the Dharma
Begin to learn to read Buddhist prayers and texts in
Tibetan
The language
of Tibet is one of the world's richest legacies, offering direct access to a
centuries-old civilization and Buddhist wisdom traditions transmitted down to
the present day. Study of Tibetan language is especially valuable to students
of Buddhism. It is a powerful tool enhancing Dharma study, facilitating
the recitation of sadhanas and mantras and allowing for fuller participation
during empowerments and teachings. To study Tibetan is to practice Dharma.
Level I Course: June 19-21
The first weekend provides a comprehensive introduction, or thorough review, of
the basics of the Tbietan language. Students will learn to read and write the
Tibetan script, use the Tibetan dictionary, and acquire a preliminary
vocabulary.
Level II: June 26-28. The second course
is a direct continuation of the first, providing an important opportunity to
support and enhance what was previously learned. This course establishes an
excellent foundation for translating prayers and texts.
Registration information: Early registration cost: one weekend $195, both weekends $340. For registration after May 31, $245 per weekend, both weekends $390. Required texts (available at KTK): TLI's Level I Manual and Level II Manual: $30 each.
Early registration suggested as space is limited.
Location: The classes will be held at Karma Trinley Kunchab (KTK), 12 Marion Rd., Watertown, MA 02472. KTK is associated with Kagyu Thubten Chšling, the retreat center of the V.V. Kalu Rinpoche, under the guidance of Lama Norlha Rinpoche.

Tibetan Buddhism for over twenty years and a teacher of Tibetan for over 16. He

where he completed the traditional Three-Year Retreat under H.E. Kalu Rinpoche.
In 1993 he founded the Tibetan Language Institute. He has developed innovative
methods and materials for the teaching of Tibetan which have been endorsed by
renowned Lamas such as Bokar Rinpoche and Thrangu Rinpoche. David has taught at
many Dharma centers around the country and recently trained several of Khenpo Karthar's
retreatants in the Tibetan language. In 2007, Gochen Tulku Rinpoche bestowed
the title of acharya (master teacher) upon David in recognition of his training.
"Lama David Curtis
is one of the excellent teachers for Tibetan Language. Not only does he have
profound knowledge of the Tibetan language but he also understands the depth of
Buddhism from study and practice. DavidÉhas achieved successful results with
many people. I don't think there is anyone who is doing work in this area in
the west as successfully as David."
